Wedding: Matt & Caity - 11/20/2010

When a great friend comes to me and asks me to shoot their wedding, I always get excited. Not only do I not have to give them a wedding present, but I know the photos will always turn out great because we already have a solid comfort level. Though, I must say, it's equally as exciting to get to work with a new couple and establish that level of comfort. Matt & Caity were married just north of the Nelson-Atkins museum near the Kansas City Art Institute. I love this area. There's tons of history and great architecture. Throw in some awesome lighting and it's almost impossible to take a bad picture. Here are seven or so from the day.

Wedding: Kate & Blaise - 10/9/2010

I had the honor of being a groomsman in a great friend's wedding this month, and as such, I was unable to officially photograph their wedding. They did, however, ask me to officially shoot their reception as their official photographer was the kind to charge for a set number of hours and then disappear. Hearing that made me realize that they weren't getting the coverage that they deserved, so I offered to follow the groom around while he got ready for the day. Below are three quick images from the day.

Getting a straight blade shave... ouch

A kiss in their booth

An evening well spent

I was so glad to be apart of their big day. What a fantastic wedding and an incredible reception! Cheers to Blaise & Kate.

Wedding: Adam & Ashley - 7/25/2010

I had the honor of second shooting Alex & Ashley's wedding with Mike Tsai of 4Honor Photography (blog: here). Mike gets to return the favor when I photograph Mike & Tricia's wedding next June, and I'm really looking forward to it. He's quite the gifted photographer and I learned a lot from him. Enough about me, on to the couple! The wedding and reception took place out in the country between here and Gardner, KS on a hot hot hot July weekend. Onto the shots!

Wedding: Sarah And Sean - 7/17/2010

There's a first time for everything, and this was my first solo wedding. I was referred to Sarah and Sean through a good friend, and the couple was just awesome to work. I was surprised to learn (and maybe even a little relieved), that they just wanted the bare minimum for coverage. Seriously! No getting ready shots, no fun bridal party candids, just the formal wedding sort of obligatory family pictures. I almost had to convince the bride to let me shoot during the wedding, but thankfully her mother did that for me. They did request that I photograph the reception, however, which was a blast! Here are a couple from the special day.

And then there was much dancing to be had. I was really surprised at the willingness of everyone to get on the dance floor! The ladies in that family really know how to have fun!

Senior Portrait: Jack Sitler - 6/9/2010

Recently graduating from high school and making the transition to collegiate life felt like it was just last year for me. For the record, it wasn't. It wasn't for Jack either, it was just this year; last month even. An exciting time for him, no doubt, but even more exciting for his parents who will have only these photos of him to hold on to. Okay, just kidding.

This set was taken out at Cedar Creek park midway between Lawrence and Overland Park on K-10. Fitting, if you think about it.

Engagement: Mike & Tricia - 5/8/2010

Ah, beautiful springtime. What could be more enjoyable than shooting an engagement session in early May? Below are a couple of pictures from my latest e-session with Mike & Tricia.

We toured Kauffman Gardens, the Nelson-Atkins, City Market, and Chateau Avalon. I find that switching up the environment multiple times keeps the ideas fresh and exciting. I was very pleased with the outcome from the shoot and so was the couple! I look forward to photographing their wedding in June of 2011!

Wedding: John & Maddie - 3/19/2010

First wedding of 2010, alright! Well, not really an official wedding, but my closest friend John's wedding! I played the part of a groomsman while Keith Montgomery played official photographer. However, when John & Maddie's official photog time ran out during the reception, I got to step in and take some fun candids. I love this sort of stuff.

#1 - The groom getting crazy...

#2 - it's a dance party...

#3 - flattering...

#4 - newly wed...

#5 - exiting to snow in March

It was an incredibly beautiful wedding and an exceptionally fun reception! Congratulations, John & Maddie K!
